Get Involved - 12x12 Love Project
getinvolved

The 12x12 Love Project presents an incredible opportunity to make a difference in this world.  For only $3,000 you can build a house for someone in desperate need.  This covers all the materials and labor needed to build the home.

The 12x12 Love Project employs local villagers to build the homes, using materials that are also purchased locally.  Therefore, when you sponsor a home you are not only helping the family who receives the house but you are also injecting resources into the local economy - causing a ripple effect in the community.

While this is important, we believe that love is not fully expressed simply by giving someone something tangible like a house.  Love is expressed best through relationships.  For this reason, with the help of the ministry of deepStream guatemala, we make a point of building ongoing relationships with each of the families who receive homes through 12x12.  It is our hope that as we show these families the love of Jesus, much more than just their living conditions will change!

Connecting YOU with THEM...
It is very important to us that we do all we can to connect each home donor with their Guatemalan family.  We will update each sponsor throughout the process and make every effort to help you know them better.  (You can click on "resources" above and watch some of the videos to see examples of how we do this.)  We also ask you to send us a photo that we can give your family, so they may see the faces behind the gift of their home.  If you are interested in visiting your family, please send us a note through the contact link and we would love to help make that happen!

How can you help?

Home Donation:   $3000
  • This donation will build a safe and warm block home, complete with windows and locking door.  Once your donation is received, we will contact you with all of the information about your family.  In addition, you will receive regular updates and photos throughout the process.  Click Here to donate a home.

BASIC HOME NECESSETIES
After a home is built most of these families still have little to nothing.  Through our relationships with local carpenters and contractors, we are able to offer the following items:

Bathroom:  $300
  • Most people in the village we are working in use an out-house style bathroom, made of tin with a hole in the ground.  For $300 we can build a separate bathroom facility with a standard toilet and running water.  This is not only a luxury for these families, but also a huge step forward in improving hygiene habits, which cause a large percentage of illnesses.  Click Here to donate a bathroom.

Wood-burning Stove:  $250
  • The houses we build are simple block structures.  While the families are protected from the elements, it still gets cold in the winter months.  A wood-burning stove will help to keep them warm as well as give them the ability to cook inside.  Each stove is built with a ventilation system to keep the smoke out of the house.  Click Here to donate a stove.

Bunkbeds:  $220
  • Handmade by a local carpenter, these make a great gift for a family, most of which sleep anywhere from 4-8 people on one bed.  Therefore, based on the size of the 12x12 homes, bunkbeds work well.  The price includes mattresses.  Click Here to donate some bunkbeds.

MISC LOVE GIFTS TO FAMILIES

Food baskets:  options of $25 or $50

  • Unfortunately, receiving a new home does not solve all of the problems for a family.  Food baskets are a great way to help out a struggling family.  Included in the baskets are main staple items that last a long time.  Click Here to donate a food basket.
General Donations:  $$ any amount $$
  • When general donations are made to the 12x12 Love Project, we use every dollar to meet needs that we believe to be the most pressing.  Examples include milk for babies, shoes, clothes, food, etc.  Click Here to make a general donation.
