From George Sisneros a partner missionary with the Project working about an hour from Magdalena:
I met Miguel and Jennifer because I heard that their son was malnourished and struggling. He was in the middle of a flu with a fever and vomiting which meant he was losing precious weight.
We took him to our pediatrician and worked with them to get Derrick healthy again. At that point we found out that Derrick was also asthmatic.
When the dust settled we realized their sheetrock home was a dangerous environment for someone with asthma. There were holes with rain and dust entering along the entire base of the 10 year old "home".
Miguel and Jennifer are young and hardworking. Miguel works full time as an "ayudante de un camion." He has 1 day off a week and probably earns $6 a day. When I met them, they were saving for a new house and hoped to finally build in the next 5 years.
This home was a blessing and changed their lives. They have been the most grateful family we've ever built a house for. "We give thanks to G-d first and then we give thanks to you all. To the work you're doing in the name of the Lord. We can't pay you back but we pray that G-d will bless you double."
